6. Kavanaugh's critics, including @SenatorLeahy, argue that Kavanaugh knew or should have known he was getting "stolen" files - and some, such as my @ATLblog colleague @ElieNYC, even assert that Kavanaugh perjured himself (http://bit.ly/2M2uOME ).

17. This week, Judge Kavanaugh was asked about another email he received, containing a draft letter by
@SenJudiciary Democrats - but his response at the time, asking "Who signed this?", shows he didn't realize it was a draft.http://bit.ly/2Q8XiHHShow this thread -
18. I might have missed a few emails or new ones might emerge, but in each case, ask yourself: would a busy
@WhiteHouse lawyer, reading & responding to numerous emails a day on many different subjects, know from the email's face that it contained stolen info?Show this thread -
19. Would it have been great if Brett Kavanaugh had figured out what Manuel Miranda was doing and reported it to the authorities (as Kavanaugh testified he would have, if he had known)? Sure. But that's hindsight.

20. There is no reason to believe Brett Kavanaugh knowingly received stolen information from the
#Memogate scandal - and no reason to believe he lied about it, in 2004, 2006, or 2018.#SCOTUS#KavanaughHearings#KavanaughConfirmationHearingsShow this thread -
P.S. I tweeted this correction earlier, but I'd like to add it to the thread for the record: as you can see from reading Email #1 (pasted again below), it came from not from Manny Miranda but from a different Senate staffer (Barbara Ledeen).pic.twitter.com/n96QLjckHX

But David this looks so obviously like a copy-paste from a document...No one writes like that about their own side taking from oral conversations... really??
-
Totally fair points. But I do think you are applying some hindsight. If they had a "mole," it's quite possible the mole would be giving them such material. Also, the senators work as a caucus, so one mole could know about multiple senators' plans.

He *also* said "I didn't receive the memos", and this makes it clear he did.

This is the one that strains credulity. In most jurisdictions, if you were trying a case and you got a similar email you'd know that Miranda was copying from stolen work product and your obligation would be to not use the info and inform opposing counsel.

Disagree on your interpretatiin here. You're reaching. The text is clearly in the voice of the democrats, i.e. written by dems. Not paraphrased as the points dems are making. Certainly enough there to raise questions.

This man is up for a lifetime appt on the highest court in America, can't we agree he should at least have integrity? Kavanaugh was not truthful with 5 of his answers & he needs to be held to the same standards as everyone else.

But after Miranda was caught, Kavanaugh must have realized that he had received some of those "stolen" emails. Why, then, did he deny (in his 2004 and 2006 hearings) every having received stolen emails and files?
-
He didn't. He said he didn't know about it until Miranda got caught.
