To be clear, I take this as Judge Kavanaugh indicating that he did NOT speak with Senator Lieberman about the Mueller probe (because if he had, Judge Kavanaugh would have said so just now). #SCOTUS #KavanaughConfirmation #KavanaughConfirmationHearingshttps://twitter.com/DavidLat/status/1037748862092488704 …

Judge Brett Kavanaugh just testified that he learned, last night, that Joe Lieberman works at Kasowitz (but the judge did not amend his prior testimony to say he spoke with Lieberman re: the Mueller probe). #SCOTUS #KavanaughHearings #KavanaughConfirmation https://twitter.com/JohnQAdams11/status/1037550804167806976 …

I've turned off the hearings with some work calls imminent, but fyi, the best speculation I have seen is Ed McNally:https://twitter.com/dcpoll/status/1037570696812158977 …

      Jeff Hauser added,

Former US Atty Edward McNally, now a partner at Kasowitz's law firm, was Trump's former pick to replace @PreetBharara at SDNY. McNally also worked with Kavanaugh at the Bush WH and recently wrote a nice piece about Kavavnaugh's nomination. #Maddow https://twitter.com/dcpoll/status/1037526256965885952 …

Ah, Ed McNally would make much more sense. I wonder if @KamalaHarris -- or any other member of @SenJudiciary, even a Republican -- will just outright ask Kavanaugh about McNally, so Kavanaugh can respond to and/or dispel the speculation. #KavanaughHearings

Put aside SCOTUS -- given the ethics rules that cover the DC Circuit (unlike SCOTUS!) and the appeals being made to that court by Manafort et al, what amount of discussion of anything Trump-Mueller could Kavanaugh have had with anyone within the bounds of the rules or propriety?

In other words, if he has discussed the case with so many people that he cannot rule out the possibility of discussing it with someone from a law firm... isn't that worrisome? Wouldn't a consistent answer be "I don't discuss hypothetical cases with friends OR Senators?"
