What was the strategy besides getting rid of the filibuster? Seems like once they did that they couldn't fail.

Grooming judges, picking judges, vetting judges, media rollout, hearings, vote wrangling.... strategy left and right, including but not limited to the filibuster and blue slips. One could write a book on this (hmm, that’s an idea).....

All you have to do is find someone willing to take the job, the abuse, the inevitable humiliating firing or the perp walk as a co-conspirator. The risks for any attorney in taking that job guarantee that any successor to McGahn will not be as capable. Good.
