Can someone who actually practices Federal criminal law please give us the guidelines recommendation on Manafort's convictions before journalists and instant Twitter lawyers tweeting out the max penalties cause my head to explode?pic.twitter.com/xzoBtpACT0

Stipulated Sentencing Guidelines range of 46-63 months for Michael Cohen, but parties can seek sentences outside range based on standard factors; waiver of appellate rights; Robert Khuzami in signature block (S.D.N.Y. U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman recused). https://twitter.com/fordm/status/1032019920102608896 …

Yeah, but that's from Cohen, who took a plea that constrains the sentence. Manafort has convictions at trial, different guidelines.

What @nsarwark said: a plea agreement w/stipulated range (Cohen) is very different from conviction at trial (Manafort). This sentencing guidelines analysis by @NYCrimDefense suggests 7-10 years (loss & offense level will be contested):http://bit.ly/2PuwjpQ

Calculating Paul Manafort's sentencing guidelines range could be affected by grouping too (as noted by @PwoodsNY), plus what will count as "relevant conduct" (see @renato_mariotti) - so the upshot is, "it's complicated" (but NOT good news for a 69-year-old).

Yes, it’s too complicated for us to calculate without more information.

How much weight, if any, can Judge Ellis give to his previously expressed belief that the only reason Manafort was prosecuted was to pressure him to flip on Trump?

Officially, none. There are no adjustments in the guidelines for "this was a selective prosecution." That's also not, to my reading, a statutory sentencing consideration under 18 U.S.C. 3553(b). But Ellis can take it into account unofficially several ways, if he really wants to.
