Better response might be "the immigration law system is inherently unjust, so anyone who works in it is complicit" - but my response to that would be, these EOIR law clerks are helping to give immigrants due process, which I thought was a GOOD thing. But...https://twitter.com/DavidLat/status/1024734828342792192 …

Of course they are. Immigration court clerkships last two years (see the @CornellLaw link I tweeted earlier), so the outgoing clerks must be replaced. I know this doesn't fit the #TrumpDerangementSyndrome narrative, but it's the truth. https://twitter.com/ElieNYC/status/1024728093448196096 …

if you are a member of the #AbolishICE crowd, maybe you want to abolish immigration courts too (which the libertarian in me is actually sympathetic to; it's just that if we want open borders, we should provide for that by legislation).

No one wants open borders. You're just attacking a strawman. Abolishing ICE is about dismantling a rogue agency who consistently engages in human rights abuses. It's not saying we shouldn't have any immigration law enforcement.

Abolish ICE as we know it because it's too far gone to be reformable. Start from scratch with a newly defined mission and organizational structure that will not so readily trammel human rights. That does not mean open borders.

Or the immigration courts under Sessions are not giving the due process they purport to (e.g. report about judge he removed and replaced). Not wanting to be complicit in current show immigration courts ≠ open boarders or no actual due process.
