I still fax stuff to the court! We only got efiling about a year and a half ago.

We are still waiting for LA Superior Court to get the efiling up! We can only do it in the PI cases. So I still fax file too, and pray I'll get a conformed copy eventually.

We were the last circuit court in Oregon to get efile. We didn't even fax we had to walk actual copies over to the court. But we don't even have parking meters in town so access to the courthouse is easy.

Zach loves a fax.

As of a few years ago, many district courts still required submission of proposed jury charges in WordPerfect format.

What are these "fax machines" of which you speak?
-
They’re like carrier pigeons but with less poop.

The Courts are slow to adapt to high tech. I still can’t use my iPad Pro, or any electronic devices, in King’s (Brooklyn) County Surrogate’s Court during Thursday appearances. Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx Surrogates are more permissive.

I’m not allowed to bring my iPad into the courtroom. I’ll need to carry an armful of briefs.

If it is the Circuit I think it is, the amazing part is that it uses fax *exclusively* for circuit business and communication.

We have a fax number at work... Once in a while, someone asks what it is and I have to search the website to figure it out.

I...seriously? Wow. I mean, A+ on the emergency prep - fax lines being standalone to the main trunks - but that’s a tough workflow to still employ. He’s a champ. ^5

On a somewhat related note I find it amazing that the fax machine was patented in 1843. http://ethw.org/Fax_Machines
