I am really pleased with the new cover on the paperback version of my book Tribes which is out today. It tells the story of my search for belonging in a divided society. As many of us are stuck at home and separated from loved ones its themes have never felt more important.

Pet theft is an appalling crime that needs tougher sanctions. If the wanted to act fast on it they should not have voted against ’s amendment to the Policing Bill to create a new offence.

Sorry, Humphrey. This is hogwash. You do not have to have white skin or blue eyes to be English.

'I should be able to put on a census form that I'm black and English – and I can't.' David Lammy insists that 'Englishness' must transcend an 'ethnic identity' and represent all people of the country.

It is utterly deplorable to assault a public servant in the course of work. Social workers and Police Officers are often tasked with protecting children in the most difficult of circumstances. My thoughts with those injured. The perpetrators must face the full force of the law.

Although those who caused the destruction hold full responsibility, 10 years on from the London riots Tory Government inaction is still deafening. is right - ignoring these complex causes of rioting has left us at risk of a repeat.

10 years ago, in the wake of the riots, the promised a Review to fix a broken society. Instead, they savaged local budgets, decimated youth services and cut the police. It is a scandal that they have ignored almost all recommendations and made everything worse.

Today marks 10 years since the London riots. As we look back on the events of that summer, there’s no escaping the fact some of the causes - inequality, poverty, and the need for better relations between our police and communities - remain to this day.

I’ll never forget walking up Tottenham High Road on the morning after the riots started 10 years ago. Those who caused the destruction hold responsibility for their actions. But it’s very worrying the government have left us vulnerable to a repeat.

In the last 5 years domestic abuse offences have more than doubled, yet prosecutions continue to fall. This Govt is failing victims of this crime. Urgent action is needed to reverse this trend & restore victims’ faith in our criminal justice system.

This is absolutely heartbreaking. “My mum wants people to know about John. For his story to save someone’s life. For the pain and loss to drive people to get a vaccine.”

Wow can’t recommend Lava on at enough. With depth, range, poignancy and humour there was so much food for the soul. It is the perfect antidote to Priti Patel’s and Nigel Farage’s vision of Britain.

Why can’t I describe myself or my children as English on our census form? You can be White English but you can’t be Black English. This needs to change.

Under the Conservatives, criminals have never had it so good. It must not be accepted as the norm for crimes to go unsolved.  The Government is failing in its first duty to keep people safe and deliver justice for victims.
