I'm poor (PIP ESA) I have paid not a penny to educate my son through private school and now Cambridge. Is that because I'm white, or because I'm intelligent, both or neither?

my grandson will be a Cambridge Graduate MSc Physics in June he went to an ordinary school got the required 4* A levels and has never looked back.. if young people have ability they apply and if results are good they get offers from Cambridge. it is hard work that gets them there

That and the issue of private schools, their dominance in the top Universities, their charitable status etc also needs addressing. Not a level playing field.

If you look at the top private schools fees pay for tuition and board. Eton, & its like, will not die, if they loose their charitable status. Smaller more local schools might. The answer is far wider access to what they deliver.

My son went to state school with prediction of 3 a* and 1a, and lots of work experience, applied but only support with application was day before deadline when tutor said it was no good. Friend at private school got in with 18 hours of support, lower grades, no work experience
