You cannot add new ingredients to a soup and then complain that it changes the taste. Personally, I think immigration improves our lives immensely. Because I like spice in my soup. If we didn't have it, we'd all be eating "Little England Gruel".

I used to love Floella Benjamin on kids' TV! She, and those like her, do indeed bring a richness to UK society.

She was great! I'm so glad I was growing up at a time when our country was so forward-looking, so open and positive about diversity, and making a conscious effort to be so.

Of course it was never perfect. But when I think about how children that have grown up in the last 10-20 years must have experienced that time, it makes me shudder. We've gone backwards!
