The trouble is that teicoplanin, which is often used instead, doesn't seem to be an antibiotic.
It also causes a fair bit of anaphylaxis in its own right @LondonAllergy

Which is weird, because everybody knows Augmentin is amoxicillin plus diarrhea.

hi, from the patient perspective: that’s literally all we’re told, but we’re told that it’s really important, so we’re not exactly enabled to be helpful in this scenario

@jodiecongirl has a great point - as the MD/RPh/RN etc, it's our job to take a good history/BPMH including context around allergies - not really the patients job to know/interpret the significance of what they've previously been told about their health info - Show replies
