As someone who is, needed additional surgery (as an adult) to correct looks, and lives with major sensitivity issues, I believe contributions to the discussion like yours are important. Thank you.

I had to have four surgeries to straighten out the mess they made. After the last surgery I gave up on having any more. It's good enough now but it should never have happened. People do not realize mistakes happen all the time.
-
I'm now a vocal opponent of the practice. I won't allow it for my son. "You're an outlier" is a common rebuttal I get. I say that even "good" cases still constitute a violation of bodily autonomy.

Exactly otherwise it's child abuse
-
No....it’s not
-
Yes it is. Try to understand that. Do some non American research.

@TurdFace0_o believes that Kavanaugh needed consent simply to touch Dr. Ford without penetration, but when an infant's preputial orifice is penetrated by a blunt instrument, it isn't comparable to rape and sexual assault? He'll probably say the 2012 Delhi gang rape wasn't rape.pic.twitter.com/kN0QkZxNTw

Most USA people do not know that a newborn baby's foreskin is ATTACHED to the glans (tip) of the penis. It separates naturally with time. This means that the foreskin must be RIPPED from the glans as part of the procedure. This is commonly done without anesthetic.
-
There’s always a numbing agent used
-
When I was born, one of my mother's friends was campaigning for babies to be anesthetized during circumcision. My hospital did not use anesthesic. I received no anesthesia during my mutilation.

And you remember that?

Are you gonna let him choose his name?
-
Allowing your son to choose his name & letting him decide how much penis he gets to keep are fundamentally different. If he doesn't like his name he can change it later in life. If he resents being unnecessarily circumcisioned w/o his consent, the erogenous tissue is lost forever
-
I changed my name *and* restored my foreskin.
-
Changing my name was quick and easy. And I’m still missing the nerves hacked off by a doctor - they cannot be replaced. I’m hoping the work of
@Foregen will make this possible. It’d be better, of course, if children weren’t mutilated.

European here, I was shocked to find out it's done in US. Like routinely. Not 'just a bit of skin' It has nerve endings and important function. be intactivists!https://youtu.be/BgoTRMKrJo4

Good on you! You can be fine with something personally but understand people are separate and have rights to choose. That's really important. Congrats to you.
-
And by people I hope you mean boys_when grown up, not parents.
-
The parents do not own the body of the child. Only medically necessary procedures are right, circumcision is not necessary in almost all cases.
-
Yes, sorry I've seen so many parents claimn its their 'right' (And in many cases when it's necessary, it seems to be result of unproper care, doctors in US don't know, sometimes they! do it :no need to retract skin, only child gets to do it (because they'll stop if it hurts))
-
I'm so for the rights of one's own body! The child is a separate individual! Glad you agree.
