Excellent to see back up and running. They provide a vital connection between East Yorkshire and London, and the pandemic has been especially hard on them.

The US is right. A passport secure at the point of use intrinsically still creates a gateway into health databases. This imperils the privacy of everybody, not just those carrying these passports.

It is important that we compare like for like. Chile started to lift restrictions before their vaccine programme started. This may partly explain the surge in cases. It is also important to note they use a less effective vaccine.

The Government has had great success so far with the vaccine rollout. But we need to keep up the pressure to increase the vaccine capacity.

What is the government trying to stop? Vaccine passports will not eradicate the spread of COVID. Giving up our freedom cannot be the solution. Accelerating the vaccination programme is. My interview on 👇

At last the CMO is recognising that post vaccine we need to treat Covid as similar to flu. Point made to Gove by Dr Andrew Murrison and myself last week. Let's hope the government pays attention.

The Americans are right. They are our responsibility. We are creating a problem for tomorrow, by avoiding one today.

A very interesting report by the Commission on Race and Ethics Disparities. It implicitly supports the idea that levels of social disadvantage are not simply confined to ethnic origin. Some white working class areas are very badly disadvantaged

If they cannot cope with even handed cooperation then we should teach them the virtues of competition. Vaccines Mk2?

If the European Union intends to appropriate all the valuable intellectual property from Horizon, we should cancel our involvement immediately. And set up a competitor project, perhaps with the Swiss, or the Commonwealth.

I am getting constituency cases where the health authorities seem to want to apply Do Not Resuscitate orders to patients simply on the basis of age. That seems to me to be wrongheaded, antiquated and a solely budget driven judgement.

I do not understand why there is a grace period on fining people for coming into the country without taking required coronavirus tests. Any action against them should be taken immediately.

The Government has had successes and failures when it comes to handling the COVID-19 pandemic. Lessons must be learned promptly if we are to improve our resilience to fight future health emergencies. My piece for today 👇

The real aim of certification is to coerce people to get vaccinated. This is wrong. Vaccination should be a free choice.

It is trying to use certification to solve a problem that is not there. Most vaccines dramatically reduce the risk of serious illness and death from Covid to near zero. This transforms the requirements of any strategy to deal with the virus.

It is beginning to look like the Government has already made up its mind on vaccine passports, before concluding the consultation and looking at all of the evidence.

After the Act was passed, the West Africa Squadron patrolled international waters to stop slave ships. It involved 36 vessels, over 4,000 British sailors and saved nearly 200,000 lives. It was the first chapter in the British Navy's history against the international slave trade.
