How does the brain transform continuous experience into memorable episodes? Check out my new preprint w/ suggesting that a surge in arousal at ‘event boundaries’ helps construct memories of discrete events!

4 experiments and >440 participants later... my first postdoc project! We find that semantic knowledge can boost accuracy of new episodic memories, but the way that it is organized can also affect how those memories are distorted.

Great new paper by et al. showing (among many other things) how HPC networks along the long-axis are not only correlated with but they also differ based on the content of memories consolidated during !

We lost a legend today, as my PDF mentor Bruce McEwen passed away. A wonderful scientist, human and mentor. I am privileged to have known and trained with him. The family has requested their privacy at this time, so please refrain from contacting them directly while they grieve.

Sharing a new preprint: “Fossil fuel combustion is driving indoor CO2 toward levels harmful to human cognition.” We show that rising CO2 may directly impact cognition — a terrifying new effect of climate change to contend with. (1/5)

New preprint! People with autobiographical memories richer in time & place details are more future-oriented decision-makers, and (caution: exploratory data ahead!) entorhinal cortical thickness correlates with both financial patience and time & place details

Time to dig up those stress balls you stock-piled in grad school. We recently found that simple exercise can temporarily benefit attention in younger and older adults. Excited to share a new preprint with implicating the noradrenergic system.
