It's difficult to say this as someone who generally believes in govt’s ability to help, but is failing CA. I have done just about everything I know how to do as a public official to make things work, but my colleagues, my staff, my constituents & I are at our wits' end.

The Trump Administration has proposed a rule to allow shelters to discriminate against transgender & gender nonconforming people. This cruel and dangerous. I am grateful to for pushing back on this indefensible policy.

It is long past time we banned fracking in CA. Happy to see this in the Governor's announcement & ready to work with colleagues to get a fracking ban passed!

While incarcerated, Kao Saelee bravely served the state of California as a firefighter. Instead of releasing him to his family when he completed his sentence, CDCR transferred him to ICE. We must now.

Our small businesses are struggling & many could face eviction if SF is unable to extend its commercial eviction moratorium. CA should have a statewide commercial eviction moratorium. But, at the least, cities need to be able to renew their moratoriums.

Before the pandemic, nail salon workers were already struggling economically. COVID-19 has devastated the industry. In San Francisco, nail salons finally have re-opened - so please support your local small businesses!

Mitch McConnell set the precedent. No Supreme Court vacancies filled in an election year. If he violates it, when Democrats control the Senate in the next Congress, we must abolish the filibuster and expand the Supreme Court.

These attempts to discredit us are not only false, but a xenophobic, racist attack on the entire racial justice movement. This transparent slander will not deter us from our mission to make Black communities powerful - in politics, our economy and more.

Years ago, I worked on Justice Ginsburg's confirmation hearing, and realized how special she would be. Her contributions to our country are immeasurable. We are immensely diminished. Rest in peace, Justice Ginsburg.

Last night, our SF Armenian community was targeted w/ arson at a church cultural center. This is after an Armenian school was vandalized in July. These criminal acts are deeply disturbing. I stand in solidarity w/ the Armenian community against hate.

👏 signed into law!👏 "Our immigrant communities have been hit especially hard by the pandemic and are left out of many social safety net programs. Expanding the earned income tax credit will open up access to desperately needed assistance."

Undocumented Californians pay taxes but are blocked from accessing safety net programs. This inequity is especially stark in the midst of COVID-19. Glad to see support this effort to bring some relief to our immigrant communities.

The gun industry has gone out of its way to make weapons more deadly, all while claiming they cannot implement simple safety features. It's time we call their bluff. Our bill to compel the industry to adopt new safety features is on the Governor's desk.

My colleague Reggie has been a tremendous leader for criminal justice reform. Threatening an elected official is not acceptable as part of political discourse in our American democracy.
