A story of a Cortical Neuron as a Deep Artificial Neural Net: 1) Neurons in the brain are bombarded with massive synaptic input distributed across a large tree like structure - its dendritic tree. During this bombardment, the tree goes wild preprint:

1/3 Thank you for a fantastic interdisciplinary conference! It's an honor and a pleasure to receive the award. I'm attaching the poster here, if it can be of any help to someone. But more importantly, also the analysis, code, and connectomics dataset.

I often meet research scientists interested in open-sourcing their code/research and asking for advice. Here is a thread for you. First: why should you open-source models along with your paper? Because science is a virtuous circle of knowledge sharing not a zero-sum competition

Altogether, as any other selection process, the review is highly noisy, and it’s important to keep this in mind. For a broader perspective, here is a nice NYT article by Daniel Kahneman on confidence in selection processes

Brains are amazing. Our lab demonstrates that single human layer 2/3 neurons can compute the XOR operation. Never seen before in any neuron in any other species. Out now in . Congrats Albert, Tim  & CO

It's time for the 1st annual census! 🤓📊 Since June of this year, I've been collecting as many neuroscience and neuro-related tweeprints on as I could find. I just analyzed all 251 of them, and wanted to share what I found. (1/n)

In the last years, I have tried to always publish data and code openly, as far as possible. Just received this comment from a reviewer, who did not appreciate the value of doing so: (1/n)

I, for one, would be happy to get rid of the peer review theater, which creates an illusion of quality certification, but which is slow, capricious, and hinders progress, in favour of letting authors stand for their own work and doing systematic post-publication review. (4/4)
