This is so important for everyone to understand. This explains why Governors say: I'm not getting the supplies I need - yet @POTUS says we are sending tons of supplies: It's going from the federal govt to commercial distributors who then deliver to the highest bidder: states!pic.twitter.com/A9jfmgBDLl

Thanks to my colleague @weijia for making a point to ask about this at the White House coronavirus briefing

In the middle of a pandemic - literally - states are having to fight it out amongst each other in a bidding war for medical supplies. It’s so shameful & embarrassing that it has come down to this - even in these dark hours, the lust for profit is taking priority over human life.

Basically, this is not going directly to the states. It's going to the middleman and then the state has to be the highest bidder in order to get what the middleman has in its inventory. And if there's leftovers, then the next state in line gets it.

FEMA is paying to airlift supplies from China that then are handed over to the distributors who are making a large profit. The supplies are sent from Shanghai to JFK in New York City. Get the FEMA contracts. #TrumpSwamp

The project is called Project Airbridge. It’s a public-private-partnership where the public pays for the airlift and then gets shafted by the private distributors who are in it just for the profit. Jared Kushner came up with this. https://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2020/03/29/world/asia/29reuters-health-coronavirus-trump-airlift.html …

After hearing the White House say critical supplies are going to commercial distributors who are then selling them to the states which are begging for help, I called @ltgrusselhonore who commanded federal troops after Hurricane Katrina to get his reaction. Shameful & disgusting! Why are we handing supplies to a middleman to begin with? Why are we not sending them directly to the hospitals? You CANNOT tell me that the govt didn’t know this bidding war would occur. They simply didn’t care. This is tantamount to murder in my opinion.
