Sorry to butt in, but even on your own presuppositions, surely baptism can only indicate the *claimed* faith of the person. They could be false brethren. So maybe it shows the boundary of the covenant community, like circumcision, not the - unknowable- faith of the elect?
The issue is purposefully giving normative signs we don’t have warrant to give. We give signs based on profession. We do not presume. We should withhold baptism for the exact reasons we withhold the table- they’re works fit only for disciples. Which is what Scripture alone shows.
I hear u ... but u adding context that has zero to do with topic. Baptism was not topic. “We’re children of believers viewed as outside the covenant” U answered already ... “kids were viewed as part of covenant”pic.twitter.com/EtypsZTCAw
And it should be “Were” near the start of your sentence, St. Typo, not “we’re”. Some saint you are. :)
Read my name. Now read it slow ... one more time.... I make no excuse for my typos. So tryin to correct in convo proves zero. Your wrong. Face it. God always viewed kids as part of covenant. Period. It’s jus a fact.
And thanks for the mention, sir but it’s social media. We all usually have to butt in. :)
