I think Trump has an uphill battle, but I'm not sure you can use midterm results as an indicator of where a presidential re-election will end up.

Trump has definitely pushed me left. In a lasting way. I can’t ever see myself rejoining the Republican Party.

I don't think that (3) holds true. Certainly they are bluer. But to say that they are left of where they were is to imply that they are ideologically more progressive. I'm not sure that's true. They just increasingly reject the GOP.

Also, comparing results between a presidential election and a midterm doesn't seem like a very accurate barometer.

There are areas conservatives should go left. Being reactive or resistant to changes on race is immoral and killing the party
