MASM can generate {epi,pro}logues and handle stack vars nicely, but doesn't have builtin support for initialising stack vars or optimisation

A C compiler would certainly explain some of the bugs in earlier Petya versions, caused by using too small registers

Something would help would be to work out what assembler/compiler(?) was used to generate the code - was the optimisation automated?

I'd think something like a lite-weight vers of Notepadd++ would do that... you think common compiler or custom?
