RSA prime generation is one of the scariest subjects to me in crypto. It's totally fraught with problems, especially in low-power applications. Why is it still much more commonly used than ECC?

I could implement RSA from scratch, off the top of my head. Which would be an absolutely terrible idea, but it probably explains why it's more commonly implemented at least.
