Whilst I do get your point, Article 5(3) does have a nice get-out clause making cookies to record marketing opt-out legal (if not ethical) BTW I wasn’t really talking about greenfield sites, I could see how you’d do that, it was retrofitting to existing CMSs we struggled with
The point should be that I opt-in giving explicit consent for the extra services/benefits that brings and not be in a situation where I can only opt out if I allow 3rd parties to drop cookies..
