@DaveVoyles create foo.txt, open powershell, mv foo.txt .gitignore :)
Anyone know how to make a .gitignore file in Win8? Always appends ".txt" for me, and doesn't work.

@DaveVoyles put ".gitignore" (put quotes around it) -
@ElementCy Ah that's what I was missing :)

@DaveVoyles Try putting the entire name in quotes when you save it. -
@FozzTexx Saves the actual file as ".gitignore" and then says GitIgnore' file. Odd?

@DaveVoyles Easiest way I've found is "nul > [path]\.gitignore" from the command prompt. Then open and edit it.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@DaveVoyles If you're doing it in Notepad, when you save, change the Save as type drop-down to "All files (*.*)"Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
