Hey senior (and very senior) designers! When you go to a conference, what presentation topics are most interesting and valuable to you? What type of information are you looking for to help you advance your career? (Also, what type of articles and content do look for and read?)

I'm convinced there are diminishing returns from continually going to events in the same field (e.g. design) - there's more to learn by say going to a marketing or sales or leadership event. It's there that discoveries of new (to us) models/frameworks/methods will be found.

I ask, in part, because it seems that many senior (and very senior) designers are NOT going to the events for the design field(s), because little of value or interest is offered to them. I agree that other events can be valuable, but there are also designer-y topics they want.

That pattern makes sense. I found
@LDconf (run by@andybudd) refreshingly interesting for that very reason (higher expectation of experience and seniority for audience and speakers).1 reply 0 retweets 5 likes
I really enjoyed C2 in Montreal two years ago because it was a "design" conference not focused on digital / web / mobile / UX stuff. I loved listening to presentations from architects and writers and medical professionals, etc.
