What if Twitter and Facebook just put a "place of origin" sticker on every post? Like, "This tweet comes to you from outside the USA" or "The origin of this tweet had been obfuscated"? Would it matter to anyone if they knew where the bullshit originated?

Good thought, but proxy servers are already getting around this. Facebook already tags location.

Yeah, lying with technology is just so easy...
It would be easier to put every message behind a warning label, "don't believe everything you read" and "people have been known to lie" and require a click / tap to see the content. Let's just annoy people and slow then down.
