As a person with space grey iOS products, I don’t understand the love affair with white :p Coworkers has that keyboard and loves it, tho

dark, multi-color LED lights, angular edges, chunky - it all seems to scream "industrial spaceship," but some people call it "bad design"...

I think the multi-color LEDs are garish but I do
a good mechanical keyboard. It's sad that "looks like an iPhone" has become our measure -
Also think they're garish. BUT, when you click a key and the LED lights up outwards across the KB like a wave... https://i2.wp.com/i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z472/teckliang90/rippleexplosion_zps379cb3de.gif?w=960 …

Very cool visual effect. I've been thinking lately about "sustainable delight" - how long until users no longer notice or turn this off?
-
needs to have meaning associated with it. So much of this manfufactured "delight" feels so flimsy because it's just plopped out there
-
IMO that's why so many designers' attempt at "delightful" don't work or there's no meaning associated with the nice bit of craft
-
When we started talking about delight, we often said "surprise and delight", but people can only be surprised once, then they expect it...

"Gaming" explained it for me. Not my identity and not my aesthetic.
