original content? removing ads/premium has always felt like bullying to me
Hypothetical question: if you were to subscribe to Facebook ($24-36 / yr), what would you expect in return? Fewer ads? Premium features?
-
-
-
would this be content from partners (FB + Netflix = early access) or content from FB and FB selected creators?
-
most "premium" features feel like there's a bully saying "I'll uncomment that code if you give me 20 bucks" to me

-
thanks for the bully analogy - you don't want to be paying ransom for baseline, but paying extra for exclusivit and access

Facebook is the worst thing to ever happen to social interaction. Anyone who’d pay for it should instead get therapy.
-
you just don't understand it and can't use it. It's like Snapchat to you. ;)
-
The only practical use for Facebook is to reveal “friends” in your stream who are oblivious to their own ignorance & racism.
-
FB just makes that discovery process faster...

fewer friends

-
I can reduce that number by 1 rather easily...

-
my silly point was if Facebook went premium / freemium it would be annoying and they would lose customers. Could be wrong.
-
Was "shower thinking" this morning about aspirational & luxury brands and moving from free to paid services - charging w/o losing

a way to read and reply via micro movements of the muscles in my eye like blink for "like", squint for "next"
-
well, that's rather specific... ;)
-
how about a bot I can program to act in my place for a specific group of my friends.
-
.
@phillip you mean like this? "My chat bot found my wallet" https://uxdesign.cc/my-chat-bot-found-my-wallet-f43c402acce3#.b210uxssg …

Demonstrable privacy with a legit audit trail.
-
@summervillain@atomick "privacy" (no data) and how FB works are in conflict - the service relies on knowing stuff about you... -
true, so the price point you suggested may be low. but if I were to pay, that's what I'd pay for.
-
+1. Privacy will be the hottest commodity for those who want to stay connected. Poor+tracked vs rich+invisible.
-
Ironically, the poor will be tracked for the purpose of retail targeting at those who have the least to spend...
-
Bingo. That’s how to keep them on the aspirational treadmill of desperation.
