@DaveHogue @shoobe01 @jcolman Do any of you feel like you've found a legitimate use for VR to support decision making?
basically anything that's not human scale, we have difficulty comprehending w/out ability to change scale
-
-
so why does being immersed in 3D with control of scale defeat multiple perspective, cord displays?
-
degrees of freedom: in a 2D display, we have fewer variables to manipulate the "view"
-
Roger, that's the legit argument I've come up across. My challenge is, if you have freedom to manipulate...
-
how do you design "out of view" support to help you realize you're too zoomed in too far, & missed something
-
that's one of the VR risks I see, you lose your long shot, your big picture view, and you miss opportunities

I can hear architects claiming that their multi views will allow them to realize the space closeness problems
-
research has shown that humans using GPS has impacted our ability to richly experience and remember 3D spaces
-
we just don't rely on songs and poems to record and pass on all of our human knowledge of the universe
-
ultimately - I'm trying to find the essence of what VR buys you, without costing you. To quantify and extract
-
what is your need here? what are you trying to do? This has been an esoteric discussion, what's the goal?
-
ultimately - way too many people falling in love with VR because gives good demo, without a need.
-
(ii) trying to identify some handles to investigate of what the brain loves about VR that it get such love...
-
AR extends our cognitive abilities, where VR just translates and transposes sensory abilities
