My first academic presentation in grad school was done with a carousel of custom-made slides, as in with a slide projector!

Awesome! Saw a computer driven slide printer in the 1970s and it was the size of a dorm fridge, took 20 minutes to print one.

Luckily I'm not that old - we sent the content (text, tables, diagrams, etc.) off to some university printing service.

For a tiny bit there, computers (and printers!) were rare so professionals interpreted your stuff, did pretty good work really.

I forget the name of the process, but all of the slides came back as white on blue (white text and charts, blue bkgd.) Remember?
