"Stay on Interstate 90 for one thousand, four hundred and twenty miles." Thanks, Google. #amazemeroadtrip
@thatjohn what do you want Google to tell you about or what to do / where to stop on that road trip? What would amaze you?

@DaveHogue but in terms of Google, some kind of tappable option that shows you things along your route (maybe in the Traffic/Earth menu?) -
@DaveHogue Like: "Highly rated restaurant, 23 minute detour in Podunk", or "Grassy Knolls Scenic Byway, 34 minutes slower, turn in 10 miles" -
@thatjohn how far off the direct route is acceptable? How do you balance time and distance against interest and value? -
@DaveHogue That'll vary for every trip. Maybe have a slider? -
@thatjohn hard to do a slider - the endpoints are vague and variable - user tolerance for diversion affected by MANY factors... -
@DaveHogue but like... "Show me: [o] Points of interest within a [25] minute detour of my route." -
@thatjohn we need to build in fudge space, because most people would consider something AMAZING that is farther than the limit they set. -
@DaveHogue right. I wonder if there can be some tailoring by recent searches, Gmail bookings, etc. Even if optin. - 5 more replies
