One author of @GA’s #UX course warns caution, says it’s not enough time to really teach the craft.

@ddt I've been saying that for years, and I used to teach a 20 week sequence of UX classes and called it an "introduction."

@DaveHogue Yes — nice and smart people, no doubt, but I was gobsmacked at how many people use it for instant first job placement. (1/2)Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@DaveHogue Companies that recruit and hire out of GA are complicit. But it serves their interests, a new crop of button stylers. (2/2) -
@ddt Egads. Button stylers. That's NOT what UXers do, not at all. -
@DaveHogue Okay, they use Photoshop to slice images, too. Like I said, companies want that, and GA teaches "do X just like this". -
Good UX courses teach how to think and problem-solve, not how to use software.
@ddt -
@DaveHogue Obviously I’ve been thinking a lot about this topic and have feels.#UX -
@ddt That makes two of us. There are others. -
@DaveHogue The only person I mentored went from marketing, took GA course, immediately hired as "senior UX" at, um, your place. -
@ddt Seriously? Senior UX? That's... Well, that's. - 5 more replies
