Which problems are best solved by machines & algorithms and which are social?
@hpdailyrant calculations, probability, atomic precision, repetition unaffected by boredom, are well-suited to machines. :)

@DaveHogue Under the hood, human interactions inform machine learning. These 2 are the levers that build context. -
@hpdailyrant What's the 2nd lever? Human interaction & __? I don't see how machine learning is a lever that builds context - it reflects it. -
@DaveHogue Eg. meaning and relationships are always evolving. That impacts how we search, discover and interact. -
@hpdailyrant that is true. Society today is very different than 100 years ago, yet we are still social even with different meaning & context -
@DaveHogue In product strategy, we do frame the question of social as means or goal because it drives the engagement model, product design -
@hpdailyrant but where does machine learning fit in if both means and goals are social? The old Eliza program was always a machine...

@DaveHogue Above the hood, sometimes social is the goal and sometimes it's the means. That was really what i was wondering about. -
@hpdailyrant maybe framing the question as a dichotomy is not correct - perhaps social is a continuum, not a state. -
@DaveHogue Yes. That's a great title for a talk. Social is a continuum.
