.@DaveHogue DropBox is by far my favorite way to give iTunes the finger in at least this regard.

@shoobe01@DaveHogue if you have a mac, ImageCapture works well, but have to be plugged in via USB, so it’s not ideal. -
@meirish@shoobe01@albertatrebla thanks for the Mac tips, but I'm on a Windows machine at the moment. I ended up using Dropbox photo sync. -
@DaveHogue heh. windows, that explains it. FYI my win 7 machine with no iTunes lets me grab files straight from folder.@meirish@shoobe01 -
@albertatrebla Yeah, the DCIM folder /should/ contain my photos and screenshots, right? But it's E.M.P.T.Y. & no access to other folders. -
@DaveHogue you did check that you enabled invisible files, right? at times they are simply hidden. happened to me and it drove me crazy. -
@albertatrebla Um, show invisible files? You mean in Windows Explorer? Why would my photos even be invisible? LOL -
@DaveHogue heh, because windows can? and, yes, in windows explorer, but try the unlocking method too.

@DaveHogue You can drag the files right out of the DCM folder via Explorer. Or import via Windows Photo Gallery. -
@fwextensions yeah, I thought so, too, but my DCIM folder is totally empty - no sign of the 104 photos and 11 screenshots. :/ -
@DaveHogue You may need to update your USB driver via Windows update. It’s a Microsoft issue not Apple. -
@craigerskine Thanks, but this iPad had photos in the DCIM folder before, but they are not there now, and DCIM is all I can see. USB is fine -
@DaveHogue Same thing happened to me multiple times on a Win7 box. I have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling the USB driver. XP is fine.

@DaveHogue I would like to see some insightful ux commentary about iTunes. Everyone complains but no one offers solutions. -
@chrispoteetpro iTunes seems to have been intentionally written badly for Windows users. The UX always felt like it was sabotaged. :/ -
@DaveHogue you’re a Windows user? By choice? Win 7 was nic(er) but Win 8 is a catastrophe. My thoughts on it http://www.siolon.com/blog/evaluating-windows-8/ … -
@chrispoteetpro I'm multi-platform by profession - Windows 8 is just one machine, but the one I'm on /right now./ -
@DaveHogue yep me too. I’m a SharePoint consultant by day and Apple fan by night. Now SharePoint has some UX oddities…

@DaveHogue iCloud and iPhoto? -
@KStohl I don't own a Mac, and iCloud only syncs across iThings, it offers no web access to your own photos (for reasons unknown...)
