@amy_lew Not just persuasive design, but also neurodesign and the application of psych principles for behavior change. Where is consent? -
@DaveHogue I agree that these are problematic when used to harm people, though does it assume that folks do what is best for them? -
@amy_lew it is not always easy to discern (or predict) the fine line between good intent and harmful result

@designoutloud No, just reading - seeing what's being shared. All links for "change behavior!", no links for "consider consequences..." -
@DaveHogue Right. Some have explored why we should & shouldn't, i.e. 'Make the world a better place' vs. 'We're not everyone's parents'. -
@designoutloud in grad school for psych we had hammered into us: do not modify behavior without consent (yes, that was for therapy, but...) -
@DaveHogue Completely agree that this should be an ongoing discussion in our field. Respect is paramount, even if permission is explicit.
