I deactivated my Facebook. No, nothings wrong and no nothing happened. Thanks for the well intentioned messages though :) I just don’t use it that much yet it takes up a surprising amount of mental bandwidth so bye for now

I didn't deactivate mine, but I stopped using it. It's still the way some family communicate, but I only check once a week for messages. Hope you are well!

I was originally going to just delete it and let it sit, but I’ve had multiple issues with identity spoofing. Fake profiles and social engineering to get access to my accounts. If I won’t be monitoring it, deactivation seems like a better way to avoid that problem 👎

Deactivation implies reactivation. I haven't really looked into it, but does mean that you can deactivate an account but retain ownership and contents, just put it in stasis until some future time when you deem it practical to re-activate and use again?

Yep. That’s where it’s at right now. I still use messenger and can keep using FB login for third parties which is cool.

They also have a nice feature where you can download an offline package of all your data which is good for record keeping and preserving memories
