Sometimes I run research and on hindsight, I discover an anomaly— a motivation or intent that I missed, and I wished that I could go back to ask that user follow-up questions.

There are ALWAYS questions that were not asked and which arise later. I always have questions to ask, behaviors to observe, contexts to assess, alternate conditions, unexplored contingencies... So. Many. Variables.

Incubation: my favorite term for "do something else and let your brain think." Once you've slept on it, the myriad of details converge to form a more holistic understanding, insights emerge, and gaps / oversights / omissions become obvious. I'm always smarter in retrospect. :)
