My latest conspiracy fear: since the @GOP has turned the US gov't into a cash funnel to give tax money to corporations, they are ignoring climate change because of the profit potential: how much will it cost to save the Earth, and who will get the $$$ when things get really bad?

It’s not a conspiracy: the tragedy of the commons + short term vs long term nature of markets are real patterns - history says we’re bad at this but... can do surprisingly well, sometimes, with shared goals - we’re in a challenge phase. Do we have enough time to wake up?

It just feels like there is much more intentional action here than the converging consequences of Tragedy of the Commons and Hyperbolic Discounting. It just feels more like a "smash and grab crime" meets "scorched earth policy"...

It's well done so it would make you angrier (but serve as a tool to share w/ the unconvinced :) it exemplifies tragedy of the commons as a consequence of unfettered capitalism: It eats everything unless forces keep a balance. But humans are bad at
