One would think that packing for a move is as easy as putting stuff into boxes. One would be wrong.

5. Identify valuable and fragile items, pack them carefully, and MOVE THEM YOURSELF. There's nothing worse than unpacking and (a) finding important things broken or missing, and (b) unpacking stuff you really don't want, but spent the time, energy, and money to move.

4 was probably my biggest focus as I sorted through everything. I asked myself "can I get rid of this" for every single object I touched. Today is moving day so we'll see about 5

Thank you
this is good, actionable content.
And good luck with the move, Liam! -
Hey while we're all here - what are your hottest tips for once all your boxes are at the new place and you're tired

-
Pack a suitcase with everything you'll need for the first 3 days and "camping" box with household necessities (bed linens, basic dishes, towels, etc.) - then you won't need to organize or unpack anything more than these on the first night.
-
On the first night, unpack your "camping" box, make your bed, find your TV/radio, find your phone and laptop chargers, then order take-out and just relax. All you need for the first few days is your bed and a shower. :)
