Son learning at school about "tolerance" of people's differences. Good
but reminds me how much I hate the word in this context. You tolerate an inconvenience or a problem, so I don't think it's the right word to use to specifically convey that differences AREN'T a problem.

Obviously I'm calling this out from the position of a straight white man who's never experienced being "tolerated" for a difference! I'd welcome viewpoints of anyone who does have such experience. Is there a good reason that "tolerance" is the right word to use?

Acceptance. I don't want to be tolerated. I want to be accepted. I want to be equal. I want to have the same rights, not special rights. The natural variability of humans is not a form of fault, inconvenience, nor error.
