...once released to caretakers are not being actively tracked. The 1500 number we're seeing is taken from /phone calls/ that could not be completed to the caretakers. There was NO IN PERSON visit or other follow-up, and there is no active tracking of these families.

exactly, so the marches now being planned for 6/14 are essentially asking for more direct gov't oversight of a population with good reason to mistrust it
