  1. For a few brief moments this morning, I thought that we were in for an incredible sunrise in . Although the vibrant color quickly faded away, the city and Ft. Pitt Bridge reflecting in the Monongahela River still created a breathtaking view.

A silhouetted skyline stands out against a colorful sunrise from the banks of the Allegheny River on a quiet morning on the North Shore. The slightly choppy water almost makes the reflection look like a watercolor painting, with the ripples mimicking brush strokes.

An eerie scene on the Smithfield St. Bridge in , as light trails from passing cars slice through thick fog that has enveloped downtown, making for a surreal yet beautiful view.

Happy New Year to everyone in and around the world! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all of the support that yinz have given me over the years, and I'm really looking forward to what 2019 has in store.

A couple scenes from last year's New Year's Eve in , with a fresh coat of snow, icy rivers, a beautiful blue sky and plenty of sunrise. In the incline image a mini-squall had just come through, giving the city a soft glow.

The first and the last sunrise of 2018 in : on January 1st, the ground was covered with snow as ice filled the rivers. Today, vibrant tones stretched across the sky behind the city as the forecast calls for rain, but for a few moments, it was just incredible.

Sometimes the reflection of in the rivers is so still, it can be difficult to tell which one is the city and which one is the reflection. Seeing the water this still doesn't happen to often, but when it does, there's no place like the North Shore to capture it from

Count me as an owner of Barry’s calendar. It will be the first time in 6 years that I hang a calendar on my office wall that isn’t my own, but he does amazing work. If you live in Chicago or enjoy great photography in general, I highly recommend giving him a follow!

Kind of hard to believe that it’s been five years to the day since I captured one of my favorite images of . The way the color was creeping into the clouds, with the moon on the edge of the front, was just incredible.

Me catching up on all of the Juju team MVP takes. My two pennies: he absolutely, 100% deserves it. But in the end, who cares? I can never remember this kind of spirited discussion about who the Pens/Steelers/Pirates voted as their team MVP.

I know this is a polarizing subject, but winter in just doesn't seem right until it snows consistently. And regardless of your feelings on snow, you have to admit, it makes everything look a helluva lot better than the bare trees do.

It’s about that time...time to get to bed so Santa can leave all yinz who were good presents under the tree. These two are already in bed, but I think Santa may pass up the milk tonight for a nice glass of bourbon, and maybe even a beer or two.

Hope that everyone celebrating Christmas Eve tonight has a great day with friends and family! A little bummed we didn’t have significant snowfall for the holidays this year, but hopefully we see it soon!

When I was younger, I, like most kids, started my day with Mr. Rogers on TV. And now, starting my day with Mr. Rogers, watching sunrise unfold over , is something that I really enjoy, especially with the Christmas treeing glowing at the Point under a beautiful sky.

Of course Declan’s first time ever ice skating had to be at the rink at PPG Place. A perfect day to do it as well, and the wait for them to open was only about 15 minutes. He’s already talking about going again, so, you know, watch out Sid.

For anyone who was planning on ice skating (like us) at PPG Place this morning, the zamboni is currently broken and they will not be opening on time. They still have to fix the Zamboni and then resurface the ice (which takes 15 minutes), so expect a delay if you are coming down.

A very close second to my affinity to good beer is good whiskey, and what better place in Pittsburgh to get some than Wigle. I went in for the coffee one for a Christmas gift, and left with the other three. Highly recommend them all.
