    Shawal and then Razmak were inhabited by Khattaks. I had a Khattak teacher in my school days from Latambar. He once came to our home in Razmak. Told us these mountains were once of Khattaks. Probably driven eastward by Etmunzai branch of Wazir.

    Not only Khattaks. Tribes in the conglomerate vaguely called karlanies, were nomads moving around Koh-I-Suleman for ages. Later they fought over water, fertile valleys and grazing areas as they settled. But as I said earlier, we need scientific research for ascertaining facts.

    We Pashtuns have been an oral society for very long time without much written record. These folk genealogies have been frequently mentioned in our folk literature. But our scholars need to conduct scientific research for filling gaps in our social and civilisational memory.

    Khattaks came to settle in their present abode by the Neelab (river) side recently (sometimes during Shahbaz Khan) time. Malak Akoo was living in خوړہ/Nizampur and came to Attock for a meeting with Akbar the Great when he came here after his half brother Mirza Hakim
