To vastly over simplify it - and again, these are inferences, not assertions - a user repeatedly visiting your site, and staying on your site, is a ranking factor you must consider. And, in my opinion, this is a very good thing for search quality, most of the time.

And this adds an entirely new dimension to search: not just writing relevant content, not just writing categoricall/topically-deep content, but writing content that actually creates a relationship with a user. Compelling, captivating content that keeps visitors on your site.

I also believe this is why more technical users of search have become increasingly unhaopy with search results, as it has also become more difficult for a user to tailor their search results by refining their query.

The only way you can do well long term is to understand how search engines work; with ML "the algorithm" can change, literally, by the second. You'll never catch up. The same is true for humans and marketing. If you don't have a grasp of psychology, you're always behind.

The underdog of content audits: dividing your queries into groups. Check red and blue, those have higher impressions in this scenario. Now you can zoom in or cluster them after some data cleaning. This is just a basic example of how Analytics helps with #SEO.
Stacked barplot showing groups of queries colored by impressions bands.

Red and blue refer to the groups with the highest impressions, that usually have more opportunities.

SEO tip if you're working on large sites - registering subfolders in Search Console (ie: /products, /blog, /categories etc) is a fantastic way to get a lot more technical/performance data - especially for finding problematic URLs in the pages report or more granular query data
