As of today I’ve received and SBA disaster and PPP loan. I applied the first day it was possible for Fresno, which was around 3/17. Was is timely? No. Did it help that I took COVID serious and applied as soon as humanly possible? Yes. Could most business owners wait 2 months? No.
My landlord and I have done business for 10+ years and luckily have a very good relationship. I called him the first day SIP was announced and told him I wouldn’t be able to pay until we opened back up or got disaster support. Luckily that happened. Many have not had my luck.
The federal government has failed small businesses to such a degree that many will not recover. This falls completely on them. Literally just a grant to cover rent during the pandemic could have prevented so much of this. The house, senate, and President should be ashamed.
