I’ve been commenting about the unusual spike in methane at Barrow since last summer when I first began noting it. It has now showed up on flask and in-situ data for over 6 months. Dozens of readings spanning months well above 2000 ppb. Industrial? Oil & Gas operations? Other?

Temperatures over land have warmed approximately 2x as fast as ocean surface temperatures. The 2019 mean global temperature was about 1.2°C (2.2°F) above pre-industrial levels (1880-1920). [Graph available from ]

“Traffic engineering theory is straightforward. If you enlarge a street, you eliminate congestion. Unfortunately, what happens instead is that the number of drivers quickly increases to match the increased capacity, & congestion returns in full force.”

Rather than hire a school bus, it's relatively common for entire classes of Dutch children to hop on their bicycles, and cycle together to a field trip location such as a museum, swimming pool, or cultural site. caught one such outing in the small city of Meppel.

It’s an extraordinary thought that there is probably more time BETWEEN the painting of these two horses at Chauvet cave (>30,000 years ago) and Niaux cave (~15,000 years ago) as there is between the Niaux cave art and us

Cool....glad to be useful i post methane charts very often Sadly, Copernicus is down the last few days...as they have surface readings around those areas. there are methane emissions in the arctic for the last weeks (some also on Alaska coast line)

Once in a while, DATA blows your mind. Today is one of those days And no one speaks about this What about a 10% jump in methane readings in Alaska?

This is the oldest known image of an owl. It was drawn with muddy Palaeolithic fingers over 30,000 years ago in Chauvet Cave, France. It is therefore a 🦉 Image by Jean Clottes

“62% of residents are now commuting to work or school by bike — an increase from 52% in 2015 & 36% in 2012, when the City Council launched a 14-year-plan...there are more bikes (675,000) than people & 5X as many bikes as cars.” Via :
