“The State shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin.” I proudly served as the chairman the initiative to add this fundamental right to our Constitution in 1996.

CA Democrats want to change the Constitution to favor some racial minorities over others in the college admissions process. Evidence shows the Constitutions anti-discrimination right, added in 1996 as Prop 209, had a positive impact on California’s minority population.

In a 2008 study, The National Association of Scholars found the elimination of racial preferences in school admissions increased the number of African-American students who successfully completed a degree from the UC and the CSU systems by 19% The Hispanic rate increased by 38%.
