Extreme Democrats in the State Legislature now want to remove the anti-discrimination right from the State Constitution and bring racial discrimination roaring back to California. This is outrageous, but hardly surprising considering the Democrat Party’s history.
The Democrat Party’s efforts to divide us by race have poisoned our politics. They started the civil war to defend slavery, formed the KKK, passed Jim Crow, opposed the civil rights act in 1964, and willingly let anarchists and criminals abuse the residents of our large cites.
I am a Republican because I firmly believe in the right of all Americans, regardless of race, to have the opportunity to succeed. As the grandson of immigrants who fled the Ottoman Empire’s persecution of Christians, this issue is personal to me.
MLK famously said “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Intolerance of discrimination against or for any person is fundamental to our republic.
CA Democrats want to change the Constitution to favor some racial minorities over others in the college admissions process. Evidence shows the Constitutions anti-discrimination right, added in 1996 as Prop 209, had a positive impact on California’s minority population.
In a 2008 study, The National Association of Scholars found the elimination of racial preferences in school admissions increased the number of African-American students who successfully completed a degree from the UC and the CSU systems by 19% The Hispanic rate increased by 38%.
This November, I hope the people of California will remember Martin Luther King’s dream for America and vote to uphold racial equality. I urge Californians to vote NO on Prop 16
