    Mindful awareness isn't self-help. It's exercise. We don't call physical exercise self-help. Physical exercise develops physical capacities. Mindful awareness develops attentional capacities. That's why I call it attentional fitness.

    I know everyone hated taking chemistry, including me, but without it industries can be like “don’t eat things you can’t pronounce” and then say “cellulose” and trust that it’s not immediately apparent to everyone that cellulose is the main fiber in most plants.

    The ability to problem-solve is an incredible feature of the human mind, but we can get into trouble when we try to apply this skill to our inner world. We simply cannot "solve" emotions in the same way that we would a math problem. We need other skills for our emotional world.
