It’s not so much the World Cup, but the reforms that come with it that are changing foreign perceptions of Qatar. Reforms are winning support for the 2022 WC and Qatar. Even Bayern Munich CEO agrees.

Well done ⁦⁩ to back the government on its labor reforms & criticize recent Shura council demands. Reversing reforms would harm Qatar’s reputation dramatically. And glad to see the media is starting a debate - we need more of that!

It was not only deceptive but racist as well towards the South Asian migrant workers as the authors are assuming that they are construction workers purely based off of their nationality. They could have been doctors, teachers and nurses but they failed to see this.

Congratulations for being preferred bidder for 2032 . should be not disappointed: after organizing well & further showing commitment to reforms, Olympics can be later awarded , maybe co-hosted as part of regional peace process.

Many thanks to for the chance to contribute to this series. 10 yrs after Qatar won 2022 hosting rights, things have shifted on migrant labour rights - mainly since 2017 - but the issues to address remain deep-rooted. When the football spotlight moves on, we shouldn’t.
