This is well above the 4,000 early releases
@MoJGovUK has agreed to. PGA says 4,000 figure is not achievable given strict criteria for offenders to be freed. It reckons 2,000 will be released which it says is nowhere near enough to free up spaces in jails, as necessary.Show this thread -
PGA submission: “Our members have reported to the PGA National Executive Committee that...Public Health England and HMPPS require a reduction of 15,000 prisoners in order to truly safeguard prisoners and staff.”

That’s a far more realistic number to have any impact

Well, I wouldn’t hold your breath, I’ve been trying to get one of my elderly prisoners released early as he only has a few days to go but almost all OMU staff are on self isolation & getting licence conditions in place is really difficult as the probation service is so depleted.

Be a damn sight safer and more productive to get in knowledgeable staff to work on the admin for prisoners to be released, rather than put more staff in to prisons! Many more lives will be saved that way surely?

This must not happen. They are a danger and a menace.

Who’s they? I take it you know all of them personally?
