Serious Q: Is it *ever* a good idea for the typical person to read current events journalism as it’s published? Is it not just strictly better to wait 6-12 weeks, start w/ the Wikipedia entry, then work back through whichever pieces seem to acknowledge most of the relevant facts?

Might not apply to Kids These Days, but I feel that part of the benefit of using Wikipedia as the fact-aggregator is that I & just about everyone else who went through the school system during the 90s/early 00s had an innate skepticism of Wikipedia deeply embedded in our psyches

Unfortunately we were not taught to treat real-time news sources the same way
